Backend Software Developer

You'll be part of the core R&D team responsible for building and maintaining high-performance backend systems written primarily in C++.

📍 Location: Riga (Latvia)

Your work will include:

  • Designing and developing backend software for real-time systems

  • Building scalable and efficient software components

  • Working on system integration and communication between different subsystems

  • Collaborating with robotics, infrastructure, electronics, and product teams

  • Participating in architecture discussions and technical decision-making

  • Optimizing software performance, reliability, and resource usage

  • Debugging and maintaining complex production systems

  • Contributing to code reviews and engineering best practices

Whatt Atlas is looking for?

Someone who already has solid software engineering fundamentals and wants to continue growing in a highly technical environment.

You'll likely be a great fit if you have:

  • 4+ years of experience developing with C++

  • Strong understanding of OOP, memory management, and multithreading

  • Experience building backend or system-level software

  • Experience working in Linux environments

  • Familiarity with Git and modern development workflows

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ownership mentality

  • Good English communication skills

They are especially interested in engineers who enjoy understanding how systems work under the hood and who aren't afraid to dive into complex technical challenges.

Bonus points if you have experience with

  • ROS2

  • DDS communication protocols

  • Robotics or autonomous systems

  • Real-time distributed systems

  • Embedded, automotive, aerospace, or electronics-related products

  • Performance-critical software

  • Docker and containerized environments

  • Previous drone industry experience is definitely interesting, but it's not required.
